Western Floater Glochidium
Anodonta kennerlyi (glochidium)

This minute larval mussel lives briefly in freshwater until it encounters a suitable fish host. It clamps onto the host's gills or fins and draws nutrients while enclosed in its tiny paired shell. After metamorphosing, it releases from the fish to begin life on the stream or lake bottom.
