Whitelip Cichlid
Placidochromis phenochilus
Adult whitelip cichlids inhabit sandy and rocky areas of Lake Malawi, often cruising close to the lake bed. They feed mainly on small bottom-dwelling invertebrates, which they pick or sift from the substrate. Mature males develop conspicuous pale lips and may defend display sites during breeding.
