Sahara Mastigure
Uromastyx geyri

The Sahara mastigure inhabits hot, rocky desert plains and digs or occupies deep burrows to escape extreme heat. It is chiefly herbivorous, browsing on desert plants, flowers, and seeds after basking in the morning sun. Adults defend themselves with strong jaws and a stiff, spiny tail that can be whipped at an attacker. Its burrow also provides refuge during cold nights and seasonal inactivity.
