Tasmanian Nativehen
Tribonyx mortierii

The Tasmanian nativehen inhabits grassy wetlands, farm paddocks, marshy edges, and open scrub across Tasmania. It feeds on grasses, seeds, insects, and other small invertebrates, often running briskly while foraging. Although it is a bird, its wings are too reduced for flight; powerful legs make it an excellent runner and a determined territorial defender.
