Giant Oceanic Manta Ray

Mobula birostris

Giant Oceanic Manta Ray

Giant oceanic manta rays inhabit tropical and subtropical open waters, often visiting reefs and offshore cleaning stations. They cruise by flapping their broad pectoral fins and can travel long distances between feeding areas. Their diet consists mainly of plankton, small crustaceans, and tiny fish filtered from the water. Despite their immense size, they lack a stinging tail and are harmless filter feeders.
