Akiami Paste Shrimp
Acetes japonicus
Adult akiami paste shrimp live in coastal marine and brackish waters, commonly occupying the open water above soft bottoms. They feed on plankton and fine organic material gathered from the water. Though small, they are an important forage animal and are widely harvested for dried shrimp products.
