Japanese Jack Mackerel
Trachurus japonicus
Adult Japanese jack mackerel range through coastal seas and offshore waters, often moving between deeper water and nearshore feeding grounds. They prey on small fishes, crustaceans, and other drifting animals. A line of hard scutes along the side of the body helps protect it as it swims at speed.
