Garden Zachrysia
Zachrysia provisoria
Garden Zachrysia is a land snail found in humid gardens, leaf litter, limestone areas, and other sheltered places in southern Florida and the Caribbean. It is most active at night or after rain, when it grazes on algae, decaying plant material, fungi, and soft vegetation with its rasping radula. During dry conditions it retreats into its spiraled shell and seals itself away to conserve moisture. This species can become an abundant garden resident where introduced.
