Brown Prionid Beetle
Orthosoma brunneum

Adult brown prionid beetles are nocturnal and are often attracted to lights during warm summer nights. They shelter by day in vegetation, under bark, or near the ground, and fly after dark to find mates. Their larvae develop underground, while adults have sturdy mandibles and a hard, brown exoskeleton.
