Golden-tailed Bull Ant
Myrmecia piliventris
Golden-tailed bull ants forage in open Australian woodland, heath, and forest edges, often hunting alone by day. Adults seize insects and other small prey with strong jaws, while also taking sweet liquids such as nectar and honeydew. A powerful sting provides an important defense when the ant is threatened.
