Black Fungus Beetle
Diaperis boleti
Adult black fungus beetles inhabit decaying hardwood, especially around shelf fungi in mature woodland. They feed on fungi and fungal material, often remaining tucked into crevices beneath bark or fruiting bodies. The adult's glossy, hardened wing cases protect its folded flight wings and body.
