Violet-green Swallow
Tachycineta thalassina
Violet-green Swallows inhabit open woodland, cliffs, canyons, and settled areas across western North America. They catch flying insects on the wing, making quick turns and short aerial dives over open ground or water. The adult's glossy green upperparts and violet rump are especially noticeable in good light.
