False Worker Hoverfly
Brachypalpus valgus
Adults frequent sunny woodland edges, clearings, and flower-rich areas near old trees. They drink nectar and pollen from flowers, moving rapidly between feeding sites. The bee-like yellow-and-black pattern is a protective mimicry display despite the fly lacking a sting.
