Mitred Parakeet
Aratinga mitrata

Mitred Parakeets inhabit montane forest, forest edges, and cultivated areas across the Andes and nearby lowlands. They fly between feeding sites and forage for fruits, seeds, nuts, flowers, and cultivated crops. Strong hooked bills crack hard seeds and can deliver a forceful defensive peck. Adults are recognized by green plumage with red patches on the forehead and face.
