Whitestockinged Black Fly
Simulium venustum

Adults occur around clear, flowing streams where their immature stages developed, often flying through shaded woodland and riverside habitats. Males primarily take nectar and other plant sugars, while females may take blood meals from birds or mammals to support egg production. Its pale leg markings give this small fly its distinctive whitestockinged appearance.
