Peaceful Dove
Geopelia placida
Peaceful Doves inhabit open forests, grasslands, farmland, and suburban gardens across northern Australia and southern New Guinea. They spend much of the day walking on the ground to collect grass seeds and small grains. Their soft, repeated calls are a familiar sound in warm open country, while their barred neck and breast feathers help distinguish them from similar doves.
