Winter Crane Fly
Rhypholophus varius

Adult Winter Crane Flies inhabit cool, damp woodland edges and vegetation near their larval habitat. They fly with a light, fluttering motion and rest among grasses, shrubs, and low branches. Adults may take moisture or nectar while focusing much of their brief adult life on finding mates and laying eggs. Unlike many insects, this crane fly is associated with activity during the colder part of the year.
