Cave Gnat
Bolitophila cinerea
Adult cave gnats inhabit humid caves and woodland sites near fungi and rotting vegetation. They make short, delicate flights through sheltered spaces and may visit moisture and fungal growth for nourishment. The adult's smoky gray wings give Bolitophila cinerea its species name, meaning ash-gray.
