Non-biting midge
Chironomus riparius
The adult non-biting midge flies around wetlands, streams, and other freshwater habitats. Adults take in nectar or moisture when they feed, while males often gather in aerial mating swarms. Despite its mosquito-like appearance, this midge lacks biting mouthparts and does not feed on blood.
