Rhinoceros Beetle
Sinodendron cylindricum
The adult rhinoceros beetle inhabits mature woodland with plenty of decaying hardwood. It feeds on sap and other sugary fluids, and is most active around dusk and at night. Males use the horn-like projection on the head to shove rival males during contests over feeding and breeding sites.
