Iberian Scarce Swallowtail
Iphiclides feisthamelii
Adults patrol sunny clearings, orchards, river valleys, and flower-rich woodland edges across the Iberian Peninsula. They drink nectar from blossoms and fly with powerful glides and rapid wingbeats, while females search for suitable host shrubs on which to lay eggs. The long tail-like extensions on the hindwings give this large swallowtail its distinctive silhouette.
