Yucca Giant-Skipper Caterpillar
Megathymus yuccae (caterpillar)
This stout caterpillar lives inside silk-lined tunnels bored through yucca roots, stems, or the base of the plant. It feeds on soft yucca tissues and usually remains concealed during the day. A plug of chewed plant material and silk helps protect the tunnel entrance from intruders.
