Giant Ramshorn Snail
Marisa cornuarietis

Giant ramshorn snails inhabit still or slow-moving freshwater, including ponds, marshes, canals, and planted waterways. They crawl over submerged surfaces with a broad muscular foot, grazing algae, soft aquatic plants, and decaying organic matter; they may also consume animal matter and snail eggs. Their large, flat-coiled shell provides important protection, and they can withdraw deeply into it when disturbed. Despite the name, this snail is not a true ramshorn snail but an apple snail relative.
