Quince Monitor
Varanus melinus
The Quince Monitor lives in tropical forest, mangroves, and coastal vegetation across parts of the northern Moluccas. It is an alert, agile hunter that climbs well and searches branches, hollows, and the ground for prey. Its diet includes insects, crabs, eggs, small vertebrates, and carrion. Its striking dark-and-yellow pattern gives this monitor its yellow-spotted appearance.
