Golden Pheasant
Chrysolophus pictus

Golden pheasants inhabit wooded hillsides, thickets, and forest edges, spending most of their time on the ground. They eat seeds, berries, shoots, and invertebrates, scratching through leaf litter for food. Males are famous for their brilliant gold crest and long patterned tail, which they display during courtship. Although capable of short, rapid flights, they usually run into cover when threatened.
