Chilean Rose Tarantula
Grammostola rosea

Chilean rose tarantulas inhabit dry scrublands and desert-edge habitats in Chile, where they shelter in burrows, crevices, or abandoned retreats. They are mostly nocturnal ambush hunters that feed on insects and other small invertebrates. When threatened, they may rear up, expose their fangs, or flick irritating urticating hairs from the abdomen. Females are notably long-lived, sometimes surviving for two decades or more.
