Malleefowl
Leipoa ocellata

Malleefowl inhabit dry mallee woodland and scrub across southern Australia. They forage on the ground for seeds, fruits, flowers, and invertebrates, using their strong feet to scratch through litter. A notable feature is the immense nesting mound built from sand and vegetation, whose temperature is carefully managed for incubating eggs.
