Lesser Goldfinch
Spinus psaltria

Lesser Goldfinches inhabit open woodlands, brushy areas, grasslands, and suburban gardens across much of the Americas. They forage nimbly among seed heads, taking seeds from asters, sunflowers, and other plants, with insects also eaten during breeding season. The male's bright yellow plumage and black cap are especially conspicuous in the breeding season.
