Yellow-bellied Toad
Bombina variegata

The adult inhabits small temporary pools, ruts, ditches, and shallow ponds in hilly or forested landscapes, often returning to water after rain. It eats small insects, worms, spiders, and other invertebrates caught with quick snaps. When disturbed, it arches its body to show the bright yellow belly in a classic warning display. Its skin secretions are distasteful and toxic, making many predators release it quickly.
