Burmese pythons inhabit tropical forests, marshes, grasslands, and waterways across Southeast Asia. They are patient ambush predators that feed on mammals, birds, and other vertebrates, overpowering prey by constriction. Adults are strong swimmers and often rest concealed in vegetation or water.
