Dwarf Seahorse
Hippocampus zosterae

Newly released dwarf seahorse fry shelter in dense seagrass and floating debris in very shallow coastal water. They are poor swimmers and use their small curled tails to cling to vegetation when currents pass. Tiny planktonic crustaceans provide their first meals as they practice rapid suction feeding. Unlike many fish larvae, they hatch from the father's brood pouch as miniature seahorses.
