Black Bullhead
Ameiurus melas
Adult black bullheads occupy muddy ponds, lakes, wetlands, and sluggish streams across much of North America. They use sensitive barbels to root out insects, crustaceans, mollusks, plant material, and small fish, especially in low light. This hardy catfish tolerates warm, cloudy, and oxygen-poor water better than many fish.
