Indochina mantis
Hierodula patellifera

The adult Indochina mantis inhabits forest edges, gardens, orchards, and dense vegetation across much of Asia. It is a patient ambush predator that catches insects and other small prey with lightning-fast raptorial forelegs before feeding with strong jaws. Adults have fully developed wings and can make short flights, though they usually hunt from a concealed perch.
