Longnose Hawkfish
Oxycirrhites typus

Adults inhabit clear tropical reefs, often resting on black corals, gorgonians, and other branching invertebrates. They wait motionlessly before lunging at passing shrimps and small fishes. The long pointed snout is used to reach prey hidden among coral branches. Unlike many reef fishes, hawkfishes lack a swim bladder and readily perch rather than hover in midwater.
