Common Fruit-piercing Moth
Eudocima phalonia

This large nocturnal moth occurs in tropical forests, gardens, and orchards across much of Asia and the Pacific. Adults drink juices from ripe fruit, using their strong proboscis to pierce soft-skinned fruits. During daylight they rest with cryptic forewings folded over the body, resembling dried foliage. Brightly patterned hindwings can be flashed suddenly when the moth is disturbed.
