Smooth Knob-Tailed Gecko
Nephrurus levis
The smooth knob-tailed gecko inhabits dry Australian woodlands, shrublands, and desert margins, spending daylight hours concealed in burrows or ground cover. Active at night, it ambushes insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates with a quick bite. When threatened, it can raise and wave its distinctive knobbed tail as a warning display.
