Deathstalker Scorpion
Leiurus quinquestriatus

The deathstalker scorpion inhabits hot, arid deserts and scrublands across North Africa and the Middle East, sheltering beneath stones, in crevices, or in shallow burrows during the day. It emerges mostly at night to hunt insects, spiders, and other small arthropods, sensing vibrations with sensitive hairs on its body and legs. Prey is seized with the pincers and subdued with a curved tail sting when needed. Its pale yellow coloration helps it blend into sandy ground, while its venom is medically significant to humans.
