Vermiculate Wrasse
Macropharyngodon bipartitus

The adult vermiculate wrasse inhabits clear coral reefs with nearby sandy bottoms in the Indo-Pacific. It spends the day picking small crustaceans, mollusks, and other invertebrates from the substrate. Its intricate vermiculated markings provide camouflage, while burial in sand offers a nighttime refuge and a rapid escape from danger.
