Spotted Boxfish
Ostracion meleagris

Adult spotted boxfish inhabit clear tropical coral reefs and lagoons, usually moving slowly around coral heads and sandy patches. They feed on small bottom-dwelling invertebrates, algae, and sponges picked from the substrate. Their fused bony plates form a hard boxlike carapace, and stressed individuals can release toxic skin secretions into the water.
