Yellow Boxfish
Ostracion cubicum
Adult yellow boxfish live around coral reefs and lagoons of the Indo-Pacific, usually moving slowly through complex cover. They use a small protrusible mouth to pick crustaceans, worms, mollusks, and algae from the reef. Their body is enclosed in a rigid bony carapace, and stressed individuals can release a toxic mucus that deters predators.
