Duncan Coral
Duncanopsammia axifuga

Duncan coral grows in branching colonies on sheltered Indo-Pacific reefs, especially along slopes and ledges with moderate water movement. Its large fleshy polyps extend tentacles to catch zooplankton, often feeding most actively after dark. Each polyp builds a hard calcium-carbonate skeleton but can retract deeply into its cup when threatened.
