Eurasian Dotterel
Charadrius morinellus

The Eurasian Dotterel breeds on open uplands and Arctic tundra, migrating to warmer regions in winter. It forages by walking across bare ground and picking insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates from the surface. A notable feature of the species is its reversed sex roles, with the more brightly marked female often courting while the male incubates the eggs and tends the young.
