Pied Shieldbug
Tritomegas bicolor
The adult pied shieldbug occurs in grassy places, woodland edges, and cultivated ground with soft soil. It feeds mainly on seeds and plant roots, often sheltering beneath litter or digging into the ground. Its bold black-and-white shield pattern and strong-smelling defensive spray help discourage predators.
