Western Pygmy Blue
Brephidium exilis
Adult Western Pygmy Blues fly low over sunny, open ground in deserts, salt flats, roadsides, and disturbed areas where their host plants grow. They visit small flowers for nectar and search saltbush and related plants on which to lay eggs. Despite being among the smallest butterflies in North America, adults can travel briskly between patches of vegetation.
