Japanese Brown Frog
Rana japonica
Adults live in moist woodland, fields, and rice-growing landscapes, returning to water mainly to breed. They wait among leaf litter or low vegetation before snapping up insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates. This species is among Japan's early spring breeders, often appearing while the weather is still cool.
