Dwarf Gourami
Trichogaster lalius

Adults inhabit sluggish, plant-filled freshwater in South Asian floodplains, ponds, and rice fields. They hunt small invertebrates, larvae, and plankton among submerged vegetation, and males defend breeding territories. Like other gouramis, they can gulp atmospheric air using a specialized labyrinth organ, allowing survival in oxygen-poor water.
