Black Turban Snail
Tegula funebralis

The adult black turban snail lives on wave-swept rocky shores and in tide pools along the Pacific coast. It grazes algae from rock surfaces with a rasping radula, usually feeding when covered by the tide. Its heavy dark shell helps it endure surf and retain moisture during low tide.
