Golden Carpenter Ant Alate
Camponotus femoratus
Golden Carpenter Ant alates inhabit tropical forests, where they emerge from established colonies for mating flights. Adults feed on sugary liquids such as nectar and honeydew, while also taking small arthropods or other protein-rich food. After mating, females can found new colonies, and their winged dispersal allows them to reach distant nesting sites.
