Hammock Crab Spider
Ozyptila praticola

The Hammock Crab Spider is a tiny, flattened crab spider found in leaf litter, beneath stones, and among low vegetation in woodland, grassland, and gardens. It hunts by waiting motionless in cover before making a rapid sideways rush at small insects and other arthropods. Prey is subdued with a bite and digestive venom, then consumed as liquid. Unlike many crab spiders, it often spends much of its time on the ground rather than sitting conspicuously on flowers.
