Tawny Owl Fledgling
Strix aluco (fledgling)

A tawny owl fledgling clambers among branches in woodland, parks, and old gardens while practicing short flights. It is still partly dependent on adults, but begins learning to watch, pounce, and balance with strong feet. Its meals are mostly small mammals, small birds, beetles, and worms brought by the parents. At this stage its mottled plumage helps it vanish against bark while it waits silently in cover.
